  • What is Vitamin K2 MK4 Powder?

Natural Vitamin K2 is part of the Vitamin K family. Vitamin K is a group of active fat-soluble compounds with haemostatic, osteoporosis preventive and antioxidant properties. Members of the vitamin K family share a common chemical structure, recognised as a functional group - the methyl naphthoquinone ring - and differ in the fat side chain. The different fat side chains affect vitamin K absorption, transport, tissue distribution, and bioavailability.

Vitamin K2 is classified into 14 different forms based on the carbon atoms in the side chain of the chemical structure, including MK-2, MK-4, MK-7, and MK-8. Currently, there are two commercially available vitamins K2, vitamin K2 MK4 and vitamin K2 MK7. The main difference between these two is the source, vitamin K2 MK4 is prepared synthetically while vitamin K2 MK7 is classified into two types, chemically synthesized and naturally fermented, with the structure of the fermented source being in trans, which has an advantage in terms of its safety.

Vitamin K2 MK-4 (menaquinone-4), a short-chain form of vitamin K2. Vitamin K2 MK4 is found primarily in fermented dairy products, but also in animal foods such as meat, dairy products, and eggs. Vitamin K2MK4 powder also has a short biological half-life of about 2.5 hours. Natural vitamin K2 MK4 in food is important for health because MK4 plays a role in gene expression, switching off some genes, and is therefore important for cancer prevention.

    Benefits:

    Anti-Osteoporosis

The function of vitamin K2 is to activate matrix osteocalcin. After the activation of matrix osteocalcin by vitamin K2, many calcium binding sites are formed on the protein, and these activated calcium binding sites can bind with the calcium that enters the bone. After the activated sites bind to the calcium ions entering the bone, the physiological process of osteogenesis is completed, so that the human skeleton is hard and able to support weight. If you are deficient in vitamin K2, matrix osteocalcin cannot be activated, calcium cannot bind to osteocalcin, bone cannot form, and calcium is lost. The lost calcium enters many other organs in the body and is deposited in the organs, which can lead to calcification of the organs and cause many diseases. Vitamin K2 powder, therefore, is of special importance for the fixation of calcium in the bone and osteoporosis.

Controlled trials also found that taking vitamin K2 powder supplements slowed the age-related decline in bone mineral density. In addition to this, the Japanese study found that vitamin K2 reduced spinal fractures by 60 percent, hip fractures by 77 percent, and non-spinal fractures by 81 percent.

    Improving Dental Health

One of the major regulatory proteins for dental health is osteocalcin, a protein essential for bone metabolism that can be activated by vitamin K2. Dentin is the calcified tissue underneath the enamel on teeth, and osteocalcin triggers a mechanism that stimulates the growth of new dentin.

    Helps Fight Cancer

Vitamin K2 powder can inhibit tumor growth by negatively regulating tyrosine kinase and phosphodiesterase activities associated with cell carcinogenesis, as well as modulating regulatory factors associated with cell proliferation, ultimately leading to cell cycle inhibition in tumor cells.

    Improve Diabetes

Vitamin K2 MK4 powder upregulates the insulin gene, promotes pancreatic beta cells and releases insulin, which can improve the body's metabolic levels and help diabetics recover.

    Prevention of Vascular Calcification

Excessive deposition of calcium on the walls of blood vessels is called vascular calcification, which causes arteriosclerosis and narrowing of blood vessels and can easily lead to myocardial infarction and stroke. Vitamin K2 MK4 powder has the dual function of regulating the deposition of calcium ions and removing the calcium ions deposited in the wrong place. Studies have shown that arterial calcification and loss of arterial elasticity can be reversed by taking large amounts of vitamin K2 powder.

    Applications:

    For Health Products:

Vitamin K2MK4 powder is a highly effective activator of osteocalcin, which improves bone density and reduces the incidence of fractures by carboxylating osteocalcin. Secondly, Vitamin K2 powder  also inhibits arterial calcification. By carboxylating and activating the matrix Gla protein MGP, Vitamin K2 inhibits calcium deposition in arteries, and it has been widely used in nutraceutical additives.
