What is Blueberry Extract Powder?
Blueberry Extract is a deep purplish-red or purple fine powder extracted from the fruit of blueberries of the genus Vaccinium in the family Rhododendronaceae, with a bitter and astringent flavor. It contains anthocyanins, flavonoids, polyphenols and polysaccharides, and other bioactive substances, and is a natural antioxidant. It is a natural antioxidant and has health effects such as antioxidant, cancer prevention, relieving visual fatigue and improving immunity.
Green Spring Technology supplies Blueberry Extract Powder 25% Anthocyanin, which is a dark purple powdery substance made from the fruit of blueberry (Vaccinium spp) of the genus Vaccinium in the family Rhododendron, through the processes of enzymolysis, aqueous extraction, purification, concentration, drying and so on. As a natural plant extract raw material, it can be used in the field of medicine, health food, beauty and cosmetics.

Regulation of Intestinal Microflora
Zhou et al. studied the composition of blueberry anthocyanins and their effects on human intestinal flora. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was used to isolate anthocyanins from blueberries, and then high-throughput sequencing and bioinformatics analyses were performed to observe the effects of blueberry anthocyanins on human intestinal microorganisms.
The results showed that blueberry anthocyanins could increase the diversity and abundance of human intestinal microorganisms. Yang Han et al. used high-fat chow to feed C57BL/6 mice with dietary supplementation of wild blueberries and blueberry anthocyanin extracts to study their effects on the intestinal flora of mice fed a high-fat diet. The study showed that blueberry and anthocyanin extracts could improve the intestinal microecological disorder caused by a high-fat diet, regulate the structure of intestinal flora, and have the potential function of weight loss and fat elimination.
Protection of Vision
Blueberry extract anthocyanin has a good protective effect on eyesight, preventing light-induced photoreceptor cell death and promoting retinoid re-synthesis. It can also adjust the macula of the human eye, one is through the promotion of the fundus of the microcirculation of blood flow increase, improve the metabolism of substances; the other is through the regeneration of retinol to achieve the effect of vision protection and eliminate visual fatigue.
Anti-Inflammatory, Antibacterial
XU et al. investigated the role of blueberry anthocyanins in nutritional intervention on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation model in vitro using blueberries as raw material and explored the pathways of action that exerted anti-inflammatory mechanisms. The results revealed that blueberry anthocyanin extract significantly inhibited the release of inflammatory factors, relative inflammatory mRNA, and protein expression. In addition, the results also showed that blueberry anthocyanins significantly inhibited the expression of the related inflammatory proteins cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and NF-κB thematic discourse, further confirming that blueberry anthocyanins exert their anti-inflammatory effects through the NF-κB mechanism.
Antioxidant
Blueberries are rich in anthocyanins, which are one of the most effective bioactive substances for scavenging free radicals. Studies have shown that the scavenging ability of blueberry extract anthocyanins against hydroxyl radicals, DPPH radicals and superoxide anion radicals increases with increasing anthocyanin concentration, and is higher than that of ascorbic acid at the same concentration, so blueberry anthocyanins can be developed and applied as natural antioxidants.
Liver Protection
The results of animal experiments show that blueberry extract anthocyanins can extremely significantly reduce the accumulation of Cd2+ in mice with chronic liver injury, indicating that blueberry anthocyanins have a certain protective effect on chronic liver injury caused by CdCl2. Jing Zhixing took the mouse non-alcoholic fatty liver model system and chronic alcoholic liver injury model as research objects and analyzed and evaluated the hepatoprotective effect of total blueberry anthocyanins by detecting the liver function and the degree of hepatic pathological damage in mice. The results showed that total blueberry anthocyanins had a better repair effect on liver injury caused by non-alcoholic fatty liver, alcoholic fatty liver, and cadmium chloride.
Applications:
In Food and Beverage Field:
Consumer demand for natural and functional foods continues to grow, with strong interest in foods and beverages with natural colourings and ingredients with health benefits. Blueberry extract anthocyanin, a natural food colourant and ingredient with antioxidant properties, imparts deep blue to purplish-red colour to food products and can be used in a wide range of food products such as juices, yoghurts, condiments, ice creams, and pastries to increase their appeal and visual appeal.
For Health Products:
The nutraceuticals market is multiplying as people become more health conscious. As blueberry anthocyanosides have a variety of biological activities such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer, they are widely used in the nutraceuticals market, which can be used to conveniently access their health benefits to help fight free radical damage, improve cardiovascular health, and promote anti-aging. As a nutraceutical, blueberry anthocyanin can be presented in the form of capsules, tablets, soft gels and so on.
In Pharmaceutical:
Blueberry extract anthocyanosides have demonstrated potential anticancer, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects in pharmaceutical research and can be used as an adjuvant therapy to anticancer drugs, in the treatment of inflammation-related diseases, and the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
In Cosmetics:
As a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory ingredient, blueberry extract anthocyanin can be widely used in skin care products for anti-aging, anti-acne, and anti-redness products, which help protect the skin from free radical damage, soothe inflammatory reactions, and improve skin tone.
