What is Galactooligosaccharide Powder?

Galactooligosaccharide powder(GOS) is a functional oligosaccharide with natural properties. Its molecular structure generally consists of 1-7 galactosyl groups attached to a galactose or glucose molecule, i.e. Gal-(Gal)n-Glc/Gal (n is 0-6). In nature, trace amounts of GOS are present in animal milk, while human breast milk contains higher amounts. The establishment of bifidobacterial flora in infants relies heavily on the galactooligosaccharide component of breast milk. It promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria to create a healthy environment in the intestinal tract and helps in the digestion and absorption of nutrients.

As a typical representative of oligosaccharides, galactooligosaccharide, together with oligofructose, raffinose and polyfructose, are recognised as typical prebiotics. Oligogalactan powder has the ability to regulate the balance of intestinal flora, improve lactose intolerance, enhance body immunity, anti-aging, and lower blood pressure. Galactooligosaccharides (GOS) are a mixture of oligosaccharides in which 23 galactose molecules are linked to the galactose group of the lactose molecule by B-1,4 and B-1,6 sugar bonds.
