Turmeric extract is an effective active substance obtained by extracting and concentrating turmeric as raw material, using ethanol or other organic solvents. It contains curcuminoids, resins, turmeric oils and other substances, insoluble in water, yellow-brown in colour, with a strong characteristic flavour and odour.

Turmeric extracts contain not only curcumin but may also contain other similar substances such as demethoxycurcumin, bisdemethoxycurcumin and dihydrocurcumin. These components work together to make turmeric extracts have a wide range of applications in the pharmaceutical and healthcare fields. In addition, turmeric extracts are used in food and cosmetic additives as natural colouring agents.

    Benefits:

    Strong Antioxidant

Turmeric has potent antioxidant properties. Free radicals are unstable molecules in the body that cause oxidative stress, which can damage cells and DNA. Curcumin is a potent antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals, thereby protecting the body from oxidative damage.

    Anti-inflammatory

Chronic inflammation is believed to be at the root of many modern diseases such as heart disease, cancer, metabolic syndrome, Alzheimer's disease and various degenerative diseases. Studies have shown that curcumin can inhibit multiple inflammatory pathways and reduce the expression of inflammatory markers. Curcumin reduces the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines by inhibiting nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB). Curcumin also greatly reduces inflammation levels by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and lipoxygenase (LOX) trails, which reduces the production of biological oxidation products.

    Good for Heart Health

Turmeric supports heart health in a number of ways. It improves endothelial function, which is an important factor in the development of heart disease. Curcumin improves blood flow by promoting the production of nitric oxide (NO), which aids in vasodilation and lowers blood pressure. Curcumin also has an anticoagulant effect, reducing platelet aggregation and lowering the risk of thrombosis. Most importantly, curcumin is effective in preventing cardiovascular disease by lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and total cholesterol levels while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels.

    Anti-Cancer Potential

Turmeric and its extracts have been extensively studied for the prevention and treatment of various cancers. Curcumin can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells and induce apoptosis, as well as inhibit angiogenesis and spread of tumours. Especially in breast, colon, pancreatic and prostate cancers, curcumin has demonstrated potent anti-cancer activity. Curcumin is also able to enhance the effectiveness of conventional treatments (such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy) and reduce their side effects.

    Beneficial for Diabetes

Curcumin has been found to increase insulin sensitivity, lower blood glucose levels, and reduce the formation of glycation end products (AGEs), which are strongly associated with the development of diabetic complications. Turmeric also protects kidney function in diabetics and reduces the symptoms of diabetic nephropathy.

    Liver Protection

Curcumin can increase the activity of ethanol dehydrogenase and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, and enhance the body's ability to break down acetaldehyde, thus inhibiting the rise of acetaldehyde concentration in the body after drinking, helping the liver detoxification, reducing the burden on the liver; in addition, curcumin also has a special antioxidant and inhibit the role of NF-kB transcription factor, to repair the liver cells, restoring liver function, and preventing a variety of toxins from damaging the liver.

    Immunomodulation

In the process of immunomodulation, curcumin can improve the immune function of the body and enhance the ability to resist the invasion of exogenous pathogens by promoting the activation of immune cells and enhancing endogenous immune activity. By using Staphylococcus aureus-induced mastitis mice as a model, it was found that curcumin may exert anti-mastitis effects by inhibiting IL-1 and CD8+ T activities and enhancing IL-10, natural killer cell and CD4+ T activities. In addition, curcumin may reduce reactive inflammation after spinal cord injury in mice by decreasing the ratio of neutrophils, macrophages, and killer T lymphocytes in the immune organs, as well as by decreasing the number of M1-type macrophages and increasing the number of M2-type macrophages at the site of spinal cord injury.

    Applications:

    In the Food Field:

Turmeric Extract Curcumin is a food additive approved by the Codex Alimentarius Commission of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO/WHO-1995) It is also one of the nine natural colors permitted for use in food in China. Curcumin has been widely used in pasta, beverages, fruit wines, confectionery, pastries, canned goods, fruit juices and culinary dishes. It is also used as a compound seasoning in chicken essence compound seasoning, puffed seasoning, instant noodle and puffed noodle products, instant food seasoning, hot pot seasoning sauce, paste flavoring and spice, seasoned sauces and vegetables, and beef jerky products.

    For Feed Product:

As a natural feed additive, turmeric extract curcumin has good application prospects in livestock production, with the effect of improving livestock and poultry production performance, enhancing product quality and improving immunity.
