What is Lycopene Powder?

Lycopene is the main pigment of mature tomatoes and is an oxygen free carotenoid. In 1873, Hartsen first isolated deep red lycopene crystals from the berry yam Tamus communs L. In 1913, Schunk discovered the difference between this substance and carotene and first named it lycopene.

Lycopene is widely distributed in a variety of plants, such as watermelon, pumpkin, plums, persimmons, peppercorn peaches, papaya, mango, guava, grapes, red grapefruit, cranberries, cloudberries, oranges and other fruits, tea leaves, and radish, carrots, etc., and the roots, especially in the ripe red plant fruits of the content is higher.

Protecting the Prostate

Epidemiologic studies suggest that diet may play an important role in the development and progression of prostate disease. High intake of lycopene and zinc are protective factors for prostate hyperplasia (BPH).
