What is Bromelain Powder?
Bromelain is a protein hydrolyzing enzyme present in the pineapple plant, which is widely found in pineapple fruits, buds, leaves, and stems. As early as 1957, it was discovered that bromelain could be used as a therapeutic ingredient. As early as 1891, it was proposed that pineapple juice contained protease. Subsequently, a series of studies were conducted on pineapple protease, and it was found that these proteases are not a single component, but are composed of a variety of enzyme systems with different molecular weights and molecular structures, and in addition to the protein hydrolase system, some of them contain phosphodiesterases, peroxidases, cellulases, other glycosidases, and non-protein substances.
Green Spring Technology supplies Bromelain Powder 2400 GDU, which is extracted from pineapple fruits and stems (mainly utilizing its outer skin) by pressing, salting, then separating and drying. It is light brown-yellow amorphous powder, which is soluble in water and the aqueous solution is colorless to light yellow. This pineapple protease is fully used in the fields of medicine, health food, cosmetics, feed and fermentation, etc. It is especially widely used in the fields of medicine and health products.
Green Spring Technology is a leading biotechnology company in China with more than 20 years of experience in plant extracts, it has been committed to developing and supplying high-quality plant extracts. Green Spring has obtained many certifications such as Halal, Kosher, COSMOS, BRC, IFS, FDA, ISO9001, ISO22000, and so on. It organizes its production following ISO, HACCP and other quality standards, and its products comply with EU EC396, EU 2023/915 standards and the highest solvent residue standards.

Promotes Digestion
Bromelain breaks down protein molecules into structural units, such as amino acids and small peptides, which are more easily absorbed by the small intestine. This is especially useful for people with pancreatic insufficiency, as the pancreas does not produce enough digestive enzymes. One study found that participants who suffered from pancreatic insufficiency had better digestion with a digestive enzyme supplement containing bromelain.
Anti-inflammatory
Bromelain is effective in treating inflammation and edema in a variety of tissues and can activate macrophages (murine macrophages) and natural killer (NK) cells in vitro. Thus, in immunodeficient individuals, bromelain has the potential to trigger the inflammatory response. Statistically, it is hypothesized that mixtures containing bromelain (containing bromelain, trypsin, and brassinolide) are statistically superior to steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in terms of efficacy and safety.
Enhance Drug Absorption
Bromelain is used in combination with various antibiotics (e.g., tetracycline, amoxicillin, etc.) to enhance their efficacy. Studies have shown that it promotes the transmission of antibiotics to the site of infection and reduces the amount of antibiotics used. In a study of human urinary tract infections, the use of both antibiotics and bromelain helped 100% of users, compared to only 46% of antibiotic-only users.
Applications:
For Feed Product:
Bromelain is stable and works in the digestive tract to enzymatically dissolve proteins in the feed into easily absorbed peptides and amino acids, and the consumed proteins are more readily absorbed by the fish's body, improving the feed conversion rate. It is also one of the alternatives to antibiotics, and its application in anti-inflammatory, anti-diarrhea, and improving meat quality is widely used. Bromelain powder can be used as a protease supplement and added to tilapia fish stock feed to enhance digestibility and bioavailability. It has the same effect on other aquaculture animals.
In Pharmaceutical:
Bromelain powder has a wide range of medicinal value and can be used for anti-inflammatory, deodorization, antioxidant, antibiotic potentiation, skin care, and many other uses, with a clear clinical medicinal value. Bromelain has a long history as a medicine, and many oral drugs and topical drugs have been listed in foreign countries, among which bromelain ointment began to be listed in Japan in 1973, and its indications are the decomposition of necrotic tissues on traumatic surfaces of burns, decubitus ulcers, superficial ulcers, contusions, cuts, cuts, cuts, broken wounds, suppurative wounds and other traumatic surfaces, the removal of necrotic tissues, the cleansing and the accompanying promotion of the treatment.
In the Food Field:
Bromelain can be used as a meat tenderizer in meat processing products. In the food industry, bromelain was sold in the food market as a meat tenderizer in powder form, which is usually combined with papain, (papain is a protease from the papaya plant). It is also used in baked goods, where the addition of bromelain to raw dough degrades the gluten, the raw dough is softened for easy processing, and improves the texture and quality of cookies and bread.
