What is Copper Peptide GHK Powder?
Copper Peptide GHK is a complex formed by the combination of a polypeptide (tripeptide-1) composed of glycyl-L-histoacyl-L-lysine and copper ions. Due to its blue appearance, it is commonly referred to as copper peptide (GHK-Cu), also known as tripeptide-1 copper.
In 1973, Dr. Loren Pickart of UCSF, USA, isolated tripeptide-1 (GHK) from human serum, a human-made small molecule peptide consisting of glycine, histidine, and lysine, which initially attracted attention in the pharmacological community because of its ability to affect the survival of hepatocytes. Further studies revealed that tripeptide-1 is an extremely strong chelator of metal ions, forming a stable blue complex with copper ions, the blue copper peptide (GHK-Cu).
Copper Peptide GHK is one of the few peptide components that can complex metal ions and can be used as a carrier to transport copper ions to damaged areas of the skin, thus exerting efficient repair functions. In addition, tripeptide-1 itself is a naturally occurring signal peptide in the skin, which can activate the regeneration of collagen in the skin and exert anti-aging effects.
Due to its excellent skincare effect, the Copper Peptide GHK has long been used by various well-known cosmetic manufacturers in their products, and it is usually found in high-end products. Copper Peptide GHK powder is safe, mild, and non-irritating, which makes it better than many other anti-wrinkle ingredients of its kind. GHK powder also has a variety of effects, including antioxidant, anti-aging, and anti-inflammatory, which can have multiple effects on the skin.
Green Spring Technology supplies 99% Copper Peptide GHK Powder with high purity, no solvent residue, and no pesticide residue, which meets the international standards of European Pharmacopoeia, American Pharmacopoeia, Japanese Pharmacopoeia and so on.

Anti-Inflammatory, Antioxidant
Scientists investigated the effect of GHK-Cu powder on reactive oxygen species (ROS) and superoxide dismutase SOD activity in LPS-induced cells. The results showed a significant reduction in ROS production after pretreatment with Copper Peptide GHK at 1, 5, and 10 μM. SOD activity was significantly reduced by approximately 19% in LPS-treated cells, and increased to near control levels in cells pretreated with GHK-Cu (1, 5, and 10 μM).
To determine whether GHK-Cu reduced the release of inflammatory cytokines, the levels of TNF-α and IL-6 were confirmed by ELISA. The results showed that cells pretreated with 10 μM Copper Peptide GHK significantly reduced the secretion of these inflammatory molecules. Thus blue copper peptide reduced ROS induced by LPS and increased SOD activity while reducing the release of pro-inflammatory factors to achieve anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.
Promoting Hair Growth
Mouse experiments were conducted to observe the effects of the Copper Peptide GHK on hair growth in mice with the alopecia model, while liposomes of blue copper peptide (CHK-Cu) were prepared to promote transdermal absorption and maintain the advantages of maintaining a high concentration of the drug on the skin. The mice were randomly divided into 3 groups of 10 mice each, namely CHK-Cu liposome group, CHK-Cu group, and control group, and the hair growth was observed by different treatments on the hair loss area.
The results showed shorter hair growth time in the CHK-Cu liposome group and CHK-Cu group compared to the control group. light hairs grew all over the depilated area on day 6 in the CHK-Cu liposome group. On day 14, the hairs were more uniform and thicker than those in the CHK-Cu group and the control group, and the hair growth area and length were also better. Observations on the back skin of mice showed that the subcutaneous vascular network was rich and thicker in the CHK-Cu liposome group and CHK-Cu group mice, which was not obvious in the control group. Meanwhile, compared with the control group, the hair follicles in the CHK-Cu liposome group and CHK-Cu group were more fully developed and more numerous. Skin section samples were taken for hair follicle counting, and the number of hair follicles increased in both the GHK-Cu group and the GHK-Cu liposome group of mice compared with the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).
The experiments confirmed that nanoscale liposomes can effectively encapsulate the Copper Peptide GHK powder as well as have a better hair growth effect, which provides ideas for the development of new topical drugs for the treatment of hair loss.
Skin Tissue Repair
Copper Peptide GHK powder is a biologically active regulator naturally occurring on the alpha 2(I) chain of type I collagen in the extracellular matrix (ECM), which is released after skin damage and is an early signal for tissue repair. In addition, endothelial cells express SPARC, a stromal-type cell-secreted glycoprotein, which is degraded to produce GHK and is thought to be a source of serum GHK.
Copper ions are trace elements required for a variety of enzymatic reactions in the human body. The amount of divalent copper ions in human plasma is about 1 μg/mL, with more than 95% present in plasma cuprocyanin and the remaining 5% bound to other molecules (e.g., albumin, histidine, etc.). Due to its high affinity for copper ions, Copper Peptide GHK antagonises other molecules, competes with them for the complexation of copper ions, and acts as a carrier to deliver copper ions to the site of injury, promoting wound healing and tissue repair.
Anti-Aging & Wrinkle Removal
GHK-Cu powder can effectively enhance the functionality of fibroblasts and stimulate fibroblasts to synthesise ECM components such as glycosaminoglycans, proteoglycans, collagen, elastin, etc., to remodel the skin structure. In addition, GHK-Cu also promotes the expression of matrix metalloproteinases MMP-2, MMP-9, and their tissue inhibitors TIMPs. By regulating the activities of MMPs and TIMPs, GHK-Cu can help maintain the balance between matrix decomposition and synthesis, accelerate tissue remodeling, and improve the appearance of aging skin.
Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory
Studies have shown that GHK-Cu powder can inhibit inflammation by lowering the levels of acute inflammatory cytokines such as TGF-β and TNF-α. In addition, by providing copper ions to the tissues, GHK-Cu can enhance the activity of superoxide dismutase, thereby inhibiting the generation of reactive oxygen radicals and achieving antioxidant efficacy.
Applications:
In Cosmetics:
Copper Peptide GHK acts on the dermis to promote the synthesis of extracellular matrix, such as collagen and glycosaminoglycans, resulting in thicker, firmer skin. It also stimulates fibroblast synthesis, promotes collagen and elastin neogenesis, increases blood vessel growth and anti-oxidant power, and repairs damage quickly. In high-end skincare products, Complex Copper Peptide GHK Powder can repair DNA damage, dismantle abnormal collagen fibres that form scars and wrinkles, and rebuild normal pattern proteins, with excellent repair and anti-aging effects.
